Tell me what is happening
Start with the situation as it is. We identify where you are in the process and what is causing the most pressure.
When family life becomes a court process, it can feel overwhelming. Stuart Williams provides calm, practical McKenzie Friend support to help you understand what is happening, prepare properly and stay focused on what matters most: your children and the way forward.
Separation, uncertainty about your children and the prospect of appearing in court can leave you emotionally exhausted before the legal process has even begun.
You may be trying to understand unfamiliar forms, allegations, statements, deadlines and hearings while also trying to remain a parent, go to work and keep everyday life moving.
Stuart's role is to bring calm and structure to that situation. He can help you organise your thoughts, understand the procedure, prepare your papers and approach each stage with greater confidence.
There may be a lot happening around you. The aim is to reduce the noise, identify what matters and prepare for the next stage properly.
Start with the situation as it is. We identify where you are in the process and what is causing the most pressure.
We organise the issues, documents and court directions so the position becomes clearer and more manageable.
We work through your papers, points you need to raise and the practical preparation required for the next hearing.
Where appropriate and permitted by the court, Stuart can attend with you, take notes and quietly support you through the hearing.
Support is shaped around the stage your case has reached rather than forcing you into a one-size-fits-all package.
Support with child arrangements, Specific Issue Orders, Prohibited Steps Orders, and variation and enforcement applications.
Support for grandparents and wider family members seeking to maintain or establish important relationships with children, including applications for permission where required.
Family proceedings can present particular challenges for serving personnel and veterans, including deployments, postings, periods away from home and the practical realities of maintaining relationships with children around military service. As a former British Army Royal Engineer and a parent who personally navigated Family Court proceedings whilst serving, Stuart understands those pressures first-hand and can provide practical, informed support throughout the process.
Assistance and guidance with Family Court applications, position statements, witness statements, chronologies and other court documents.
Support with responding to allegations, organising evidence and preparing for fact-finding hearings.
Preparation before hearings and attendance at Family Court as a McKenzie Friend, subject to the usual rules and the court's discretion.
Support in non-molestation and occupation orders, public-law children proceedings, adoption, appeals, divorce and financial remedy proceedings.
Please note: although Legal Aid may be available to eligible applicants in certain injunction proceedings, fees charged by S Williams Professional McKenzie Friend are privately payable and are not covered by Legal Aid funding.
Pricing is simple at the enquiry and consultation stage, with fixed-fee options available where a clearly defined piece of work is more suitable.
The core hourly rate is clear and consistent, so you know exactly what to expect from the outset.
Fixed fees are also available for certain pieces of work, including the preparation of court documents and statements. Where fixed-fee work is appropriate, the scope and cost will be agreed before work begins.
Additional costs, including travel where applicable, will always be discussed and agreed in advance.
Family proceedings can pull parents towards conflict. Stuart's approach is to help you remain measured, organised and focused on practical outcomes that put children's welfare first wherever possible.
Stuart has spent many years working with families and understands that behind every court bundle is a real family dealing with a difficult period in their lives.
Tell Stuart where things currently stand. You do not need legal language or a perfectly organised account. Just explain what is happening and he can take it from there.
